Children’s Church leaders have the unique and vital ministry of sharing the “Good News of Jesus Christ” with children.
The Purpose
The purpose of Children’s Church is to teach and share the “Word of God,” be instrumental in teaching Bible stories, and help children learn about fellowship with other believers.
Children’s Church is for children in Kindergarten through the 4th grade.
A church leader should:
Be a believer whose lifestyle reflects Christian values.
Have a good reputation both inside and outside the church.
Have a loving attitude of service for children.
Be known for spiritual maturity, faithfulness, prayer and dependability.
Be a member of the church.
It is essential that teachers invest time and effort in developing effective lessons by studying and being completely prepared before Sunday morning. The following is a list of preparations needed to be an effective teacher in Children’s Church.
1. Knowledge of lesson (using outline only, being able to TELL the Bible story.
2. Flannel board pieces out and in order for story to be told.
3. Songs prepared (poster board with words of songs chosen.)
4. Attendance chart up to date.
5. Offering plate ready to be used. (teacher will need to take it to the church treasurer after church service.) Memory verse poster ready, and taught to children.
6. Quiet game chosen if time available at end of lesson. (Dog & Bone, Thumbs Down, etc.)
7. Prepared to end each lesson in prayer.

Vehicle Use Policies and Procedures
1. Use of church vehicles for personal purposes is prohibited.
2. Requests for vehicle(s) will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. The vehicle committee chairperson will use his/her discretion to ensure that no group or individual monopolizes the use of the vehicle(s). When scheduling conflicts arise, Administration will request a final decision from Pastor and Deacons to resolve the conflict in schedules.
3. Only licensed drivers who are over the age of 25 may operate organization vehicle(s) and have been approved by vehicle committee chairperson. Individuals MUST be on insurance policy 2 weeks prior to driving organization vehicle(s)
4. Vehicle requests should be scheduled two weeks prior to the actual date of intended use.
Passenger Conduct and Responsibilities
1. No standing, walking, or seat changing while the vehicle is in operation.
2. All seatbelts must be fastened while the vehicle is in operation.
3. The passengers must obey the driver at all times.
4. NO candy or gum may be stuck to any part of the vehicle.
5. There will not be allowed the throwing of any items inside the vehicle.
6. Hands, arms, and/or legs are to be kept inside the vehicle while in operation.
7. The rear windows of the vehicle must remain closed while the vehicle is running.
8. NO Tobacco products, illegal drugs or alcoholic beverages may be on the vehicles at any time.
9. No glass bottles or glass containers.
No firearms, ammunition, fireworks or explosives or any dangerous objects or material are allowed on church vehicles and/or church property.
No animals are allowed on church vehicles.
No profanity or foul language is allowed to be spoken on church vehicles.
Any passenger not abiding by the rules or direction of the driver may lose the privilege of riding the church vehicles in the future.
Vehicle Driver Qualifications and Responsibilities
1. For insurance reasons, only those who are over 25 years of age and are on the List of Registered Drivers for vehicle use may drive the organization vehicles. Church Finance Committee maintains this list with a copy at the pastor’s secretary office. The senior pastor of the church and vehicle committee chairperson will have final say on who will be approved to be on the list of Registered Drivers. Those who are approved must present their driver's license upon registering. Registered Drivers must also have a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
2. Driver must be in good health.
3. They must have a valid Arkansas operator’s license.
4. They must be listed on the church insurance policy.
Vehicle Use Guidelines & Policy
The following guidelines have been established in an effort to provide consistency in the management of organization’s vehicle(s) and regular maintenance. These guidelines must be followed to avoid damage, injury, or abuse to the vehicles, facility and/or its users. The purpose of Vehicle Use Guidelines is to establish a fair process for the allocation of the organization vehicles to as many members and staff as possible and to maintain a consistent process for management and maintenance of the organization’s vehicle(s).
1. Drivers must drive responsibly at all times and follow all traffic regulations, including the speed limit. 15-passenger vehicles are known to be top heavy and are susceptible to rollover if sharp turns are made at high speed.
2. It is required that drivers check out and return the key to and from the pastor’s secretary desk on the day of request/departure.
3. It is the driver's responsibility to return the vehicle with ¾ full fuel tanks.
4. Driver will also check the vehicles cleanliness and the condition of the engine, fluid levels and for the condition of the brakes and of other important parts.
5. Upon returning vehicle(s), please remove trash and belongings from interior, and vacuum if it is dirty. Remember to check fuel level prior to returning the vehicle.
6. Report any maintenance needs and/or accidents/damage immediately to the vehicle committee chairperson.
7. If the vehicle requires immediate service, had been involved in a traffic accident, or is damaged in any way, it must be reported to senior pastor and vehicle committee chairperson immediately. (For all traffic accidents – please contact the police and obtain a police report – these must be turned in to the pastor’s secretary office.)
8. The keys to all organization vehicles are kept in a key box and may not be removed and/or used without prior approval from senior pastor or vehicle committee chairperson.
9. Schedule must be consulted to make sure no other ministry has already reserved the vehicle during the same time frame. The use of the vehicle must not conflict with the regular schedules of the church unless approved otherwise by the church. Any group of the church which wants to reserve the vehicle for use should clear it through the pastor and deacon body.
Children younger than four years of age or under three feet tall, must ride in child safety seats.
All passengers must be seated and in their seat belts at all times while vehicle is moving. There may not be more passengers in any vehicle than the number of seatbelts in the vehicle. For example, if there are 15 seatbelts, there should only be 15 passengers
Smoking or chewing tobacco is prohibited at all times in any of the vehicles.
Drivers may not answer, or talk on their cell phones while operating the church vehicle(s). Drivers will need to pull off to the side of the road to use cell phones.
Drivers who have had serious and/or repeat accidents may be removed permanently from the Registered Driver List.
The vehicle committee chairperson should check the vehicles regularly for any needed maintenance. In the event maintenance needs to be done, it should be performed as soon as possible.
The driver of the vehicle has the final authority for the operation of the vehicle, i.e.; concerning weather, road conditions, or any other hazard that may be unsafe for operation.
All church vehicles will only run normal routes in the Lead Hill School District.
On all gas charge tickets driver needs to put vehicle type and mileage of vehicle.
Please treat the organization vehicles with respect while using it, and return them in a clean condition. Please be considerate to other groups, ministries or staff who will be using the vehicle(s). God has blessed us tremendously with these vehicles and we are called to be good stewards over everything He has given us. Therefore, everyone’s cooperation is needed to keep this valuable resource in good shape for many years to come.
Every committee should have an uneven number of people – 3 or 5 or 7, etc.
Chairperson ---- you are the point person. Strive to keep the committee and church members updated. Make sure you have a way to contact each committee member. Each member works to improve the church and help with relationships as a leader. Also recruit volunteers and organize partnerships to promote programs. Having an outgoing, friendly personality, speak positively about your church and your belief in God and what you are doing. Remember, you represent not only your church, but your work for God.
